Anatomy through movement

Anatomy in Motion (AiM) is a groundbreaking, movement-based therapeutic method developed by renowned sports therapist Gary Ward, author of What the Foot?

At the Neuromuscular & Sports Injury Clinic, we’re proud to offer this innovative approach to help clients address pain, restore movement, and reconnect with how their body is meant to function.

Benefits of Anatomy in Motion

Anatomy in Motion (AiM) is more than a therapy—it’s a full-body movement re-education system that helps uncover the root cause of pain, imbalance, and performance limitations.

By analysing your gait cycle and movement patterns, AiM identifies where the body is compensating, then uses gentle, corrective motion to restore balance, function, and efficiency.
Whether you’re an athlete, recovering from injury, or looking to move better, the benefits of AiM are measurable and long-lasting.

Restores Natural Movement
AiM helps you rediscover how your body was designed to move. By reactivating underused joints and muscles, it restores joint mobility and improves coordination across the whole body.
Reduces Chronic Pain
By addressing the root cause of dysfunction—not just the symptoms—AiM can reduce or eliminate chronic pain, particularly in the back, hips, knees, and feet.
Improves Posture & Alignment
AiM highlights where your body is out of alignment and guides it back to its optimal posture through specific movement sequences based on the gait cycle.
Increases Athletic Efficiency
Athletes use AiM to optimise movement mechanics. Improved joint loading and coordination reduce energy waste and improve stride, power transfer, and movement economy.
Enhances Injury Recovery
AiM plays a key role in post-injury rehabilitation by retraining the body’s movement patterns and preventing compensations that often lead to re-injury.
Identifies Compensations
Many people move with hidden compensations caused by past injuries or imbalances. AiM uses gait analysis to pinpoint these and correct them at the source.
Boosts Proprioception & Body Awareness
Clients often report a better connection to their body after sessions. AiM enhances proprioception—the ability to sense and control body position and movement—critical for sport and daily function.
Supports Long-Term Movement Health
Unlike short-term fixes, AiM equips your body to self-correct over time. It empowers you with tools to maintain pain-free, high-quality movement long after your session.
